James Louis Carter, Jr.
December 02, 1952 - August 12, 2026
Obituary for James Louis Carter, Jr.
James L. Carter Jr. was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on December 2, 1952, to his loving parents, the late James Carter and Louise (Macklin) Carter, both of Memphis, Tennessee. His parents later moved to Boston, Massachusetts.
James received his high school diploma and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1972. He also attended night classes to further develop his talents and become a licensed pipefitter. He went on to work for Carlisle Engineering Automatic Sprinkler, where he dedicated 34 years of service. Through his hard work and dedication, James became a foreman and remained in that position until his retirement in 2009.
Those who knew James knew him as a kind, hardworking, and funny man with a great sense of humor even up to his last days with us. James was a loving and devoted husband to Rita K. Jackson-Carter, who stood by his side through life’s joy and challenges.
James was a proud father to the late Dr. James Pierce (son), Jason Pierce (son), Nicole Jackson (step-daughter), and the late Phillip Gunter Jackson (step-son). He was also a loving bonus father to Terrance Eady and Felisha Branch.
James will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his devoted sisters, Patricia Carter, Nida Carter-Barrel (Fleming Barrel brother in law); and his favorite niece, Roslyn Russell.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Louise Carter; his brother, Lewis Carter; his sister, Anetta Copeland; and his brother-in-law, Charles Russell.
He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
James will be deeply missed, but his love, strength, dedication, and memories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
