James (Jamie) Gordon McDonald, 94, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, August 7th, 2022.

Beloved husband of Pauline (Sirois) McDonald, with whom he recently celebrated his 69th wedding anniversary.

Loving father to Joanne Marion of Redwood City CA, the late James P. McDonald of Quincy MA, Sheila Lightner and her husband Marshal of Jacksonville OR, Janet Moss and her husband James of Napa CA, and Karen Salvas and her husband Ed of Hanover MA.

Proud Papa to John Paul Marion, Marie McDonald, Wesley Lightner, Rachel Lightner, Westley Moss, Olivia Salvas and Lauren Salvas. Jamie is also survived by his sister Noreen Curtis of Braintree MA, his sister Ann Erickson of Quincy MA, his brother John (Jack), and wife Ann, McDonald of Braintree MA, his cousin Kathryn Barry of Duxbury MA and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his brother George (Buddy), and wife Sheila, McDonald of Quincy MA, his brother John Richard (Dick), and wife Josephine, McDonald of Oakdale CT, his brother-in-law Alan Curtis of Braintree MA, his brother-in-law John Erickson of Quincy MA, and his brother Thomas (Tom), and wife Bernice (Bernie), McDonald of Quincy MA.

Born in Milton MA on February 3, 1928, Jamie was raised in Quincy MA and resided there for 77 years before moving to Linden Ponds in Hingham MA. He attended Quincy schools until he enlisted in the Navy during World War II. After 4 years in the Navy he continued on to the Marine Corp where he served for 2 years during the Korean War. After the war, he followed in his fathers’ footsteps to work in the plumbing trade. He worked for Plumbers Local 12 and retired after many years as a plumber for the MBTA.

Jamie will mostly be remembered for his gentle, giving nature and his infectious smile. He was always in a good mood and brought sunshine to the room even on the gloomiest of days. Family was everything to him. As each grandchild was born, he loved to sit with them on his front porch in Quincy, so he could proudly show them off to passing neighbors. He made the funniest noises in an effort to make the babies laugh.

Jamie was known to help family, friends and neighbors in their times of need. He was the person that people would call upon when something wasn’t working properly around their homes. Jamie loved being outside, especially during the summer months when he meticulously cared for his home, his yard and his swimming pool. He was the ultimate fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He always saw the good in people and never spoke badly of anyone. However, if his Patriots or Red Sox were not playing up to his expectations, he would most definitely have a few choice words to say.

Jamie will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
