Obituary for Jacques Gerard Michel

Jacques Gérard Michel, age 87, peacefully passed away on the morning of Good Friday, April 3, 2026, at Copley in Stoughton, Massachusetts. His passing on such a sacred day reflects the faith he embraced and the grace with which he lived his life.

Born on November 25, 1938, in Bahon, Haiti, Jacques was the beloved son of Marc Michel and Angélique Dorsainvil Michel, and the eldest of two children. From an early age, he embodied strength, responsibility, and a deep love for family—qualities that would define his life.

In 1970, he met the love of his life, Suzelle Saintyl Michel. Their union was one of enduring devotion, companionship, and unwavering support, lasting a lifetime. Together, they built a legacy rooted in love and faith.

He leaves behind his cherished children: his son, Bruno Gerry Michel, and daughter-in-law Ivlie Cacendre (Ferdinand) Michel of Wellington, Florida; and his daughter, Louise Garmelle Michel-François, and son-in-law Alain François. He was predeceased by his daughter Rose Suchelle Michel. He was a proud and loving grandfather to four grandchildren Marvin G Michel, Marliah G Michel, Mitterand A François and Garchelle L François who brought him immense joy.

Jacques is also survived by his dear sister, Marie Jacqueline Gucie (Michel) Augustin, his devoted adopted son in his later years, Edsonley Reveus, his loving cousins Gaillot Dorsainvil, Yvon Dorcinvil, Amédée Michel, and Serge Michel, as well as many extended family members, and dear friends whose lives he touched deeply.

A man of extraordinary talent and cultural impact, Jacques was a founding member of l'Orchestre Tropicana d’Haïti, famously known as “The Golden Rocket of Haiti.” From its founding in 1963, he dedicated over 50 years to the orchestra, helping shape its legacy and bringing joy to countless audiences through music. Beyond music, he was a passionate soccer fan, proudly supporting Argentina and FC Barcelona, and was an enthusiastic admirer of Lionel Messi.

In 2018, he relocated to Stoughton, Massachusetts, to be closer to his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren—treasuring every moment spent with them. Later in life, Jacques deepened his spiritual journey. At the age of 83, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized at 84 at TBC under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Jn Abede Alexandre. His faith became a source of peace, strength, and inspiration to those around him.

Visitation will be held at the Tabernacle Baptist Congregation Inc., 575 American Legion Highway, ROSLINDALE on Saturday, April 25th from 8-9AM. Funeral Service to begin at 9AM. Interment at Saint Michael Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.
