Jacqueline L. (Downey) Watts, a retired probation case specialist, of Dorchester, formerly of South Boston, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Devoted mother of Robert Watts of Dorchester and Shannon Watts of Weymouth. Loving sister of the late Robert Mayhew of Milton and the late Patricia Fagan of Pensacola, FL. Beloved daughter of the late John E. and Lillian Downey of South Boston.

Jackie loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She adored her older brother and sister and cherished all of her nieces and nephews. She was especially thrilled to see her nieces, Jacqui and Kelly, this past fall while visiting from Florida.

She enjoyed traveling. Over the years, she had visited Las Vegas, San Diego, Grand Canyon, Canada, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Barbados, New Orleans, Martinique, Dominica, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and especially loved visiting Ireland and Amish Country in Pennsylvania.

Jackie enjoyed her 25 years working at the Dorchester District Courthouse. She had many fond memories of her experiences, as well as her co-workers over the years.

She had many hobbies and interests such as gardening, decorating, baking, reading, and watching crime shows; her favorite being Law & Order: SVU

Jackie especially enjoyed cheering on the Boston sports teams and watching the Boston Marathon. She was a lover of the beach, Irish culture, and going out to restaurants with her family. She was proud to be originally from Southie. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Brendan’s Church, 593 Gallivan Boulevard, Dorchester, Friday at 10am. Interment to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited.
