She has been gone for three weeks now, yet her memory remains clear. She was a lady in every sense of the word. A proud daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister, her eyes would light up when speaking of each member of her family. Through her, I knew stories of love for each that she would repeat with just as much energy. Although disabled, she never sought pity, instead choosing to support others who at times showed their appreciation. Other than the interior of her vehicle, which she hid from me, she kept her quarters immaculate and sparsely furnished, which was a testament to her work ethic and caring heart. I will never forget her eyes, her voice, her kindness.

She has helped my sister blossom into the strong, confident woman that she is today, for over the 30 years she's worked with her. May God strengthen the Whitt family during the difficult days ahead. I would often ask her in our frequent converversations, "How are things in Dorchester?" Inevitably she would respond by laughing and saying sarcastically,"Dorchester is Dorchester." Now that Hyacinth is gone now however, Dorchester will never be the same.
