Obituary for Hugh S. Jarrett

On Wednesday, December 7th 2022, after a long battle with CADASIL, Hugh S. Jarrett passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at the age of 65 years old. Hugh is survived by his wife; Lillethe, his children; Sheldon, Kamaal, Kevin, and Tyler, His siblings; Junior (Peter), Eric (Bobby), Tessita (Tessie), and Euda, as well as countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Born in the Cypress Hall district of Saint Andrews, Jamaica in 1957, to the late; Ethelbert and Ester Jarrett, Hugh grew-up being revered in the district for his fashion sense and his charismatic attitude. Prior to immigrating to Boston, Massachusetts in 1981, in pursuit of work to support his growing family, Hugh spent five years as a Basic School (Kindergarten) teacher in Jamaica. Once in the States, Hugh eventually found work as a Bricklayer. He joined the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 3 Union, where he was a member for 35 years through his retirement and passing.

Forever the hard-worker, Hugh instilled in his sons the importance of being diligent in ones chosen craft. He also expressed his joy for spending time with friends and family. He was happiest entertaining at a family function, taking breaks from cooking to tell an elaborate story and then sneaking back to the kitchen once he received the appropriate level of laughter from the punchline. He was a dynamic personality. Someone who was just as comfortable in silence as he was being the life of the party. As comfortable in Carhartt and work boots as he was in a suit and gators. He was unapologetically himself and he will be missed.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Hugh’s life on Saturday December 17, 2022 at Spring of Water Christian Assembly, where Hugh served as a Deacon for over 8 years, 374 N. Main Street, Randolph, MA 02368. Viewing will be at 9AM with a funeral service to follow at 10:00AM (Remote viewing also available).
