Fritzner Gerald David passed away on Monday August 8, 2022.

Fritzner was born on September 14, 1935, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the late Marie Rose Ursule David of Jacmel. He went to Herman Heraud Elementary School and attended high school at Lycee Toussaint L’Ouverture. After high school, he worked for several years at IDASH (Social Insurance Institute of Haiti).

On August 29, 1969, he married Audanette Normil of Dame Marie; they were married for 52 years. Out of this union, they were blessed with 2 children.

He worked for IDASH until he emigrated to New York in 1978. Shortly after he moved to Boston, where he worked for several years as a chef at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cambridge. After, he changed careers and worked at Raytheon Technologies alongside his wife until he had a stroke in 1991.

He was the godfather to Margarette Saintus, Clark Cesar and Wanda Williams but everyone in the family called him “Parain” meaning godfather. He loved his family very much. He was the disciplinarian. Growing up, you knew you were in trouble when Parain was called. He was everyone’s father figure.

During birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, he made sure everyone received a card. It was a private joke among us to see how much money or rolls of coins you received from Parain. If one of us received more money we would say Parain loved me the most when he loved all of us equally. He was a great guy and he made you feel special when you were in his company.

He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and his 3 sisters: Marthe Elizabeth David, Claudette (David) Frederick, and Guerda (David) Cesar.
