Obituary for Francis L. Curley

Francis L. "Frank" Curley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on June 24, 2023, surrounded by his wife and children. Frank was born on February 2, 1943, in Boston, MA. He leaves behind memories of his humility, kindness, loyalty and sense of humor.

Son of the late Lawrence F. Curley and the late Margaret F. Donahue of Milton, MA; Frank was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Northeastern University. He married the love of his life, Barbara McManama Curley on October 21, 1973. Together, Frank and Barbara embraced the journey of marriage creating a legacy of love and family.

Frank was lovingly committed to his children; Daniel Curley and his wife Laura of Medway, MA, Matthew Curley and his wife Allison of Medway, MA and Kathrynne Curley of Tewksbury, MA. As a kind and devoted grandfather, known to his grandchildren as Grampa, Frank adored Brendan, Maeve, Olivia, Samuel, Ian and Isabel.

Frank was the brother of Marie Singh and the late Annette Everett. He was also a loving brother-in-law to Carl McManama and Judie Blair, Susan Gianinno and Larry, Beth Murphy and John, the late Dan McManama, Steven McManama and Chris, Michael McManama and Cathy, Peter McManama and Linda, and Marianne Howard and Don. Additionally, he was an uncle to over 30 nieces and nephews. He took great delight in spending time with all of his family.

Frank proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard for four years where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal. Following completion of his military service in 1970, he began his career at Marr Scaffolding Company in South Boston and dedicated himself to the company for over forty years. Upon his retirement, Frank was inducted into the Marr Companies Hall of Fame.

Aside from his family, Frank enjoyed his passions for boating and being on or in the water, sports (especially his fanhood of the NY Giants and the Atlanta Braves) and his interest in all things meteorological. He could often be found in the waters off of Hull as a young man, Humarock and Plymouth, where he delighted in sharing his love for the sea with his children and grandchildren.

Our husband, Dad, Grampa and friend will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His gentle demeanor, humility and kind heart will forever be remembered and cherished. May he rest in peace knowing that the world is a better place because of him.
