Obituary for Frances Marie Averiett

Our dear mother, Frances M. Averiett of Reading MA, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 11, 2023, at the age of 87. Born in Akron, OH on April 26, 1936, to Sadie Mae (Curry) Averiett and Walker Averiett, a decorated soldier who was honorably discharged.

Frances worked for UMASS as a nutritionist, Boston Mutual in the records department, and The Salvation Army as a daycare Director.

She loved the color peach, shopping, decorating, as well as chatting daily with family and lifelong friends. She could be found most days listening to what she called “my” relaxing music. Frances was a “hot ticket” who could make you laugh but was also a force when she needed to be.

She was the beloved mother to the late Arthur “Perry” Stone and is survived by sons Kevin O. Stone and his wife of Mont Vernon, NH, Marc A. Stone of Sacramento, CA, daughter Nicole D. Rogers and her husband of Foxboro, MA. Loving and devoted “Ganna” to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Joseph Averiett of Akron, OH, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Walker Averiett Jr, Benny Averiett, of NJ and sister Cozetta Averiett Brown, OH.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday August 17 at 11:00 AM. Family and friends invited. Visiting hour will be prior to the service from 10-11 AM. At the family’s request, the burial at Knollwood Memorial Park will be private.
