Also among those that left before her were close friends Kathleen (Kay) Nolan, Julie Sullivan, Helen Barker and Mary Kearney, and cousins Mary Brophy and Geraldine Maher, as well as sister-in-law Marge Lundrigan.

Evelyn had a wonderful life growing up in Dorchester, and had many fond memories of her visits with family in Newfoundland, as well as other parts of Canada. She attended St. Peter’s Grammar School and St. Patrick’s High School. After so many wonderful years in Dorchester, she enjoyed living in Milton for many years, with the last few years in Scituate.

She began her career as a telephone operator in 1948 for NE Telephone and Telegraph which was later known as Verizon when she retired in 1991 after 43 years. She was a long-time member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was always there to help out in any way. Everyone that knew Evelyn loved and respected her. She put everyone ahead of herself, especially her family.

She will be remembered for her love of chocolate. She also enjoyed baking, and loved to share her Irish bread and apricot squares, especially with her many friends at the Sisters of Charity Marillac Residence Retirement Home in Wellesley.

Another passion she had was her love of shopping. She never missed a monthly sale at R.H. Stearns in Boston (which was usually followed by a visit to Baileys for a hot fudge sundae). She also enjoyed a good estate sale by The Pink Ladies, and shopping at the South Shore Plaza and the Derby Street Shops, and later enjoyed her on-line shopping.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton Saturday November 2 at 10:00 AM. Family and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Friday November 1 from 4-8 PM. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Sisters of Charity of Halifax Retirement Home, Attention Sr. Evelyn Dobzanski, 125 Oakland Street, Wellesley, MA 02481 or to the Catholic TV Network.

She was an amazing woman that will be truly missed, but never forgotten. She will live on in our hearts forever.
