Obituary for Eulene Jeanette Rock

Eulene Jeanette Rock, 72, of Dorchester, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 16, 2024.

Eulene was born in Pool Land, St. John, Barbados, to the late Pearl Elaine Belgrave-Headley and George Frederick Headley. She was one of nine siblings: Olwyn, Norma, Henderson, Rosemary, Carl (deceased), Undine (deceased), Peter, and Elroy.

For over 50 wonderful years, Eulene was the beloved wife of Leibert E. Rock. She was the cherished mother of Lawrence E. Rock of Dorchester, Dr. Valerie J. Rock of Seattle, and Sheron A. Johnson of Hyde Park. She is also survived by her adored grandson, Nicholas V. Johnson and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the United States and Barbados.

A proud graduate of Quincy College and the University of Massachusetts at Boston, Eulene earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Throughout her career as a registered nurse, Eulene dedicated herself to the care and well-being of her patients across various healthcare facilities in Boston. Most notably, she served with great honor and compassion as a charge nurse at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital.

Eulene's gentle spirit, unwavering dedication, and boundless love for her family and community will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral Service will be celebrated at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Thursday May 30 at 11:00 AM. Family and friends invited. Visiting hour will be prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery.

Eulene supported the missions of many charities during her life, most notably the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and the March of Dimes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to those organizations at the links below:
