Obituary for Elnora Jackson

Elnora Jackson was Born April 5, 1936, in Helena, Arkansas. Elnora was the cherished daughter of the late Henry and Annie Roberson. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and peacefully left this world on October 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.

Her beloved husband, Josha Jackson, preceded her in death, along with her siblings Barbara Kelly, Sam Kelly, Lavern Morley, her two daughters, Faye Mcchristian and LaJuanda Suggs, and grandchildren Nakeya Stanley, Alexander Woods, and Tyeaka Rodgers.

Elnora's life was a tapestry of love and devotion, woven with the threads of her family, her faith, and her community.

She survived by her children: Lena Hunter, Gwendolyn Hunter, Geneva Stanley, Beatrice Howard, and Anita Browne; her sons Kenneth Ray Suggs, Anthony Suggs, Alexander Maurice Suggs, and Danny L. Suggs. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Natasha Young, Carlisa Young, LaTamra Jarrett, Kareaka Suggs, Charles Rodgers, Alisha Bernadis, Fantasia Means, Whitney Means, Brandon Michel, Bennie Suggs, Jermah Clements, Royal Stanley, Kesha Terry, Monique Belcher, Kamilah Hunter, Erica Rendon, Terrance Jackson, Robert Jackson, Jasmine Jackson, and Tamika Suggs, among many others, along with her 35 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings Gardine Pitts and Lucy Kelly.

Elnora's life was a testament to her creativity and craftsmanship. A skilled seamstress, she transformed countless weddings with her custom-made bridal attire and breathed new life into vintage furniture, preserving the charm of the past. Her hand-sewn curtains graced many homes, adding warmth and elegance to any room.

An active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for 35 years, Elnora served as the Mother of the Church and a Sunday school teacher for two decades, sharing her love for God and her wisdom with all who knew her. Her contributions extended beyond the church walls. She was a dedicated member of the Task Force in the building where she lived and was recognized for her service by City Hall in Boston, even meeting with Mayor Thomas Menino and other politicians.

Elnora's humor was legendary; her quick wit and playful sarcasm brought joy and laughter to those around her. She had a knack for delivering unexpected jokes, reminding us all of the importance of laughter and the joy of living. Her love for God and her family was evident in all she did, and her memory will forever be a blessing to those who had the privilege of knowing her. My mother lived her life with quiet dignity, thoughtfulness, and grace. She never sought recognition, but everything she did carried care and intention. Through her work, friendships, and how she raised her family, she left a lasting impression on those who knew her.

She had high standards-not just for herself, but for others. Yet she always balanced that with compassion. She believed in doing things properly, following through, and giving her best. Her values were simple but strong: honesty, kindness, humility, and perseverance. She lived them daily, without need for praise.

At home, she created a space that felt calm and safe. She believed in routine, doing things the right way, and looking after those she loved. Her days were quiet but never idle. She kept things running with care and quiet strength-rarely asking for help, never seeking the spotlight.

She had an eye for details and a sense of order that brought stability to everyday life. Her handwritten lists, tidy home, and thoughtful routines showed how deeply she cared. Her love wasn't loud, but it showed in every small act. From birthdays to packed lunches, her thoughtfulness lived in the quiet rhythms of daily life.

She valued loyalty and consistency. Friends often said how much they trusted her. If she said she'd be there, she showed up. She didn't chase approval, yet people admired her steady nature. She supported others without a fuss and gave advice without judgement.

Though not one to speak openly about emotion, those close to her knew how deeply she felt. My mother lived her life with quiet dignity, thoughtfulness, and grace. She never sought recognition, but everything she did carried care and intention. Through her work, friendships, and how she raised her family, she left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
