Obituary for Ellen M. Coakley

Ellen M. Coakley, a devoted woman of faith, passed away peacefully, welcomed into eternal rest by her beloved parents and sisters, Sunday March 16, 2025. Her unwavering devotion to her faith and Our Lady of Perpetual Help was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her in kindness, service, and prayer.

Beloved daughter of the late Harold J. and Mary E. (Cleary) Coakley, Ellen was a cherished sister to Patricia C. Gird and her late husband John W. Gird. She now joins her dear sisters, Mary C. Coakley and Cecelia Coakley, in the loving embrace of heaven.

Ellen was a highly skilled professional whose career in defense analysis spanned over three decades. A graduate of Emmanuel College with a background in mathematics, she served as a civilian expert at the Air Force Electronic Systems Center, where her sharp analytical mind and innovative thinking helped shape critical cost forecasting tools. As a leader in her field, she played a key role in developing and advancing cost estimation processes that supported military decision-making at the highest levels.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Friday, March 21 at 10:30 am. Visitation at the church begins at 9:45am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Ellen’s life was a testament to faith, intellect, and dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
