Obituary for Elaine V. Hayes

Elaine V. Hayes (Casey) of Norwell passed away on April 24, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 63.

Elaine was the wife of the late Mark E. Hayes and the daughter of the late Anne and Paul J. Casey of Milton. She was also the sister of the late Stephen J. Casey.

Elaine had an unwavering spirit and graciously served others – including family members, friends, and her dog, Pioneer – with a constant sense of joy and warmth. She brought humor and compassion to every challenge and person she encountered. She committed herself to others and faced difficulties, including her own diagnosis, with grace. Her liveliness and loveliness will be greatly missed.

Dear Elaine leaves behind a village of friends and family, who loved and supported her to her passing. Sabrina Khan and Raquel McDevitt were her champions in care. Her niece Caroline E. Lemmon (Conor) and nephew Christopher P. Casey (Ellen), whom Elaine deeply adored, will miss her dearly.

Elaine is also survived by her sister-in-law Joanne Medoff (Bruce), brothers-in-law Donald and Drew Hayes, nephew Matt Medoff (Anna), nephew Colby Medoff (Amanda Labriola), niece Kayla Matthews (Kyle), great-nephew Oliver Matthews, great-niece Madaline Matthews, nephew Ryan Hayes (Andrea), nephew Michael Hayes, niece Emily Hayes (Jimmy Maloney), and great-niece Finnley Maloney.

Expressions of sympathy in her memory can be made to The Home for Little Wanderers, 72-74 E. Dedham Street, Boston, MA 02118.

I'm from the old Milton neighborhood and grew up playing with Stephen and Elaine. I have fond memories of whiffle ball games in their driveway and running in and out of their house while playing. My sincere condolences to your families on her loss. May God bless Elaine. John Kelley

Elaine was our babysitter. I loved her so much that when she left the neighborhood to go to college in Newport I went with her mother to visit her. My bothers loved her equally as much. She was always smiling, so kind. I can't remember her ever being cross with us. I'm certain there were times we tested Elaine's patience but she was always the same- sweet as ever. I will always have gratitude for her presence in our young lives. We will never forget her.

I've known Elaine almost her entire life, growing up with her in Milton. She was my sister Nancy's good friend. Kind, loyal, funny, giving, and caring are just a few of the words that capture her beautiful personality. Everyone who knew her loved her. We'll miss you. May you rest in God's peace.

I've known Elaine since she was a little girl. She was a great friend to my cousin Nancy. I was lucky enough to see her a couple times over the last few years. She was beautiful inside and out. May she rest in peace ❤️
