Ecila Valentine Gabadon passed away peacefully at 11:20pm on October 30, 2023 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was 81 years old. Her family is deeply saddened by her death.

Ecila was born on February 20, 1942 to Josephine Senior and Clifford Gabadon, in St. Ann, Jamaica. She was the 5th of the six Gabadon children (Kitty, Coolie, Kenneth, Birdie & Chi-Chi). In Jamaica, Ecila enjoyed a career as a legal secretary and then banking manager. She was also a board member at Wesley College High School in St. Ann.

In 1988, at the age of 46, Ecila emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts to provide her children with an opportunity for a better life. On arrival in the United States she started anew, first in retail and then becoming a certified nursing assistant.

Ecila is survived by her children Kavel Angela Harrison and Winston Anthony Daley and his wife Nicole Daley; her grandchildren Zahria Soule Daley, Shanice Kareena Wallace, Kryanna Immani Wallace and Jasseim Jahmal Wallace; her niece Mitzie Cameron and nephew Terrance Byron; and grandnieces Antoinette Rankins, Adriana Rankins, Desiree Byron, and Destiny Byron. She is predeceased by her grandniece Ashley Rankins.

Ecila loved spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite tv shows were Golden Girls, Andy Griffin, Sanford and Son, and Judge Judy. She will be missed especially by her grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed taking trips downtown, telling Jamaican stories with hints of wisdom, and numerous other activities. She was kind, funny and passionate. She made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed.

Funeral Service Thursday, November 9, 2023, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hour 10 - 11 am. Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery, Boston.
