Obituary for Diane L. Lowney
Diane (Little) Lowney of Rockland, formerly from Milton, passed away on May 7, 2023, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer. She was 77 years young. It would be wrong to say that Diane lost her battle with cancer because she never stopped fighting. She was a warrior in the purest form.
Diane was born in Boston and raised in Milton, where she raised her family. After high school, Diane worked at Gillette before starting her own family. She then returned to work at South Shore Internal Medicine, retiring after 20+ years. She loved her โwork familyโ and adored her patients as much as they adored her.
Diane was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She was her grandchildrenโs biggest cheerleader, showering them with unconditional love and support. Diane had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and family that she cherished. Diane was always selfless and very considerate of others. No matter how bad she was feeling, she would change the subject, and ask โHow are you?โ.
Diane loved to travel and rides by the beach. She loved Disney World, Castle Island, and any place on the water, especially Ogunquit Maine, and Longboat Key, Florida.
Diane valued her friendships. Dear friends to Eileen Ribak of Quincy and Joe Ford of Florida. She loved the โLiving Large girlsโ and her lifelong friends from the Collicot PTO group.
Mother to Steven Lowney (Scott) of Seattle, Sue Reddish (Ryan) of Canton, and Matt Lowney (Marisa) also of Canton. Proud Nana to Michelle, Meghan, Courtney, Ally, and Alana. Sister of the late June Moran-Linehan, Nancy Hansen, Barbara McMahon, and Susan McGowan. She was a loving cousin and Aunt to many. She is survived by her partner Donald McGibbon, his daughters
Sarah (Ryan) Levonyak, and Amanda (Dan) Tortora. Proud โnanaโ to Parker, Kinsley, Jackson and Summer. She was pre-deceased by her former husband and friend Tom Lowney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Monday May 22 at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Sunday May 21, 2-5 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
