Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Cynthia Barbara Joseph. Cynthia was born to Rudoph and Frances Louise Gibson Joseph on October 30th, 1952, in Belize City, Belize. From her earliest days, she loved life and was dedicated to her family, but most importantly her children. Beneath her fire was a generous heart - she gave freely of herself to share the little she had, down to the shirt on her back. They say home is where the heart is. For Cynthia, that place was always Belize. “Ah gone da Malanti to spend a week-and-a-half……”

Left to mourn her are her children Cleveland, Jenny and Desire Olivera, Ondera Flowers, and daughter-in-law Victoria Olivera. Grandchildren Rasheed Gardiner, Lionel Olivera, John Frazer, Alandra Stallings, Naomi, Amayah, and Olivia Olivera and Great Grandchildren Rashan and Mallorie Gardiner. Partner Harry Coty, Aunt Jonnie Gibson, Brothers: Anthony Gibson, Rudolph, David and Mark Joseph; Sisters: Sonia Joseph Rogers, Julie Joseph Young, and Debra Joseph Amid. Auntie to several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cynthia was resilient, funny, full of life, sassy, and fiery all at the same time - She was truly a woman of many stories.

Cynthia spent her early adult years in Belize, working various jobs to provide for herself and her children. On September 10th, 1990, she migrated to the United States and began a new chapter of her life. With pride and determination, she worked tirelessly to provide for her children back home — until, at last, she was able to bring all 4 of them and her two grandsons to join her. She worked for many years in a role now known as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), caring for elderly clients with patience and compassion. Her care often went beyond her regular duties, as she would occasionally leave behind a hot, home-cooked meal for the entire family to enjoy.

During one of her cherished walks with her young grandson, Cynthia met Harry Coty, who became her loving partner of more than two decades; together, they built a lasting home filled with companionship and love.

Cynthia touched everyone she met in her own unforgettable way. She had a special way of making everyone around her feel important, welcomed, and loved. Her home was always open to family and friends. It was a place filled with the smell of her amazing cooking, laughter, conversations, and memories that we will carry forever.

She was also Lovingly known as the queen of the dialysis center and made a lasting connection with one of her dialysis technicians named Abu whom she referred to as her “other son”. She treasured the genuine love, kindness, patience, and compassion he showed her.

Cynthia will be remembered for her unforgettable presence, strong spirit, sense of humor, and caring heart. She was a woman who spoke her mind, loved deeply, and faced life’s challenges with courage and determination. Cynthia’s life was marked by resilience, strength, and gratitude. Although we mourn her passing today, we also give thanks for the years we shared, the memories we created, and the lessons she leaves behind.

Cynthia, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, and you have kept the faith.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Tuesday, September 8th from 10-11AM. Memorial Service to begin at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited. Private Interment.
