Obituary for Clarence Joseph Jones
Clarence Joseph Jones was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1933. He was raised by his father, the late Shelly Jones, he was the firstborn of eight children. Clarence was formally educated in the Philadelphia School System and served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. Clarence’s service was honored with several accommodations including the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Medal. The definition of work ethic, Clarence was a dedicated employee of the United States Post Office in Philadelphia PA, and the Boston Public School System until he retired in 2020.
Clarence was most proud of his family. He and his wife Yvonne Jones wed on September 1, 1976. Through this union, they raised three children, Deneen (Joseph), David, and Jason. Clarence also adored his three children from a previous marriage, Dwayne, Delondo, and Robin. He was also the consummate Cat Dad to his favorite feline “Felix”.
Clarence entered enteral rest on May 23, 2022. Active until the end, he was an avid Gardener, Amateur Chef, Do-it-Yourselfer, Tinkerer, and voracious News Consumer (Boston Globe/Philadelphia Tribune/CNN/PBS/Etc).
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his firstborn son Dwayne Jones, his sisters Yvonne Jones, and Barbara Davis, and his brothers Shelly Jones Jr, Calvin Jones, and Curtis Jones. He leaves to carry on his legacy and cherish his memory, his devoted wife Yvonne Louis Jones, Deneen (Joseph), David, Jason, Delondo, Robin, and Felix the Cat. Extended family, Sisters Joyce Gibbs, Blanche Gibbs, Paulette Jones, Sister-in-Law Sandy Jones, Brother-in-Law, Kenneth Louis, Sister-in-Laws Nadine Livingston (Edward), Beverly White (Joseph), Cheryl Louis, and a host, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and many amazing neighbors will also deeply miss Clarence.
A life well-lived is never lost.
Funeral Service Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hour 10 – 11 am. Interment Private.
