Charles (Charlie) McLaughlin, of Milton, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, Friday September 18, 2026.

Beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Houghton) McLaughlin for 66 years. Devoted father of James J. McLaughlin and his wife Pauline of Franklin, Ann Marie McLaughlin of Milton and her companion Jack Hansen and John P. McLaughlin of Canton. Loving grandfather of Jamie (and Mary), Jonathan (and Marie), PJ, Daniel, Jillian, Paul, Jenny, Shannon, Patrick and Kaitlyn. Great-grandfather of Jimmy, Maddison, Chuck, and Henry.

Born in Urblereagh, Malin Head, Co. Donegal, Ireland, he is the son of the late James & Bridget (Monagle) McLaughlin. Brother of the late William (and Bridie) of Toronto, John (and Anne) and James (and Margaret), both of Manchester, UK and Paddy (and Kathleen) of Urblereagh, Co. Donegal.

No description of Charlie’s family is complete without acknowledging the welcoming embrace by the Monagle family of Somerville. His uncle John Monagle sponsored him when he emigrated in 1955. Uncle Johnnie, Aunt Annie, and his nine cousins: the late John, Charlie, Jimmy, Paddy, William “Vin” Monagle, Catherine MacDonald, Anna McGonagle, Marguerite Rowe, and Mary Barry became his American family.

Also waiting for Charlie was his future wife, Mary, whom he had met when she visited her Irish relatives who were Charlie’s neighbors.

Charlie began work in the carpentry trade shortly after arriving in America. He was a long-time member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 33 (Now Local 327) where he worked numerous projects around the Boston area.

Charlie & Mary started their family in Jamaica Plain before moving to Milton where he has been a resident for the last 58 years. Charlie was a member of the County Donegal Association of Greater Boston, Milton Town Club, Milton Senior Bowling League, and parishioner of Our Lady of The Visitation Parish, St. Elizabeth Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, Friday September 25th at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday, September 24th: 5:00 -7:00 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
