Obituary for Carlyle “Carl” Nathaniel Thornhill

Carlyle “Carl” Nathaniel Thornhill, of Milton, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Carl was born on October 9, 1953 in the City of Cambridge, MA. He was the second of four children born to the late Rev. Clyde Nathaniel Thornhill and Myrtle Haywood Thornhill. Carl leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Lois, son Carlyle II, daughters Nicole Gresham (Alex) and Liane; the light of his eyes grandchildren Olivia Grace and Sophia Gwendolyn; his loving mother Myrtle Thornhill; sisters Reverend Dr. Marilyn Weekes and Reverend Lorraine Thornhill; brother Ernest Thornhill (Sharon); Aunts Lillian Allsopp, Elsie Scott and Barbara Haywood; Uncle Alan Haywood (Sylvia); Sister-in-law Joyce Tinkler; brother-in-law Brian Sandiford (Rosyln) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carlyle is preceded in death by his father Reverend Clyde N. Thornhill and brothers-in-law William Tinkler, Ronald Quintyne and David Weekes, Sr.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the Homegoing Services on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Kingdom Empowerment Center (formerly, First Holiness Church) at 211 Columbia Street, Cambridge, MA. Masks will be required. Services will be livestreamed via YouTube here: https://youtu.be/XlsdB2nUBC8

Wake: 9:00 am – 10:00 am Homegoing Celebration: 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Interment immediately to follow at Milton Cemetery, 211 Centre Street, Milton, MA.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Carlyle N. Thornhill to support the research efforts of Dr. Mary-Ellen Taplin at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.     My heart is so broken someone very special was called home to be with god I think about you all the time and I will continue to miss you so much not just a friend and a uncle I'm going to miss your smile your voice and most just to see you and put a smile on my face when I heard you passed away the tear start running down my face I still can t believe I'm not going to be able to call you uncle anymore may you continue to be at peace and be at peace I love you uncle carl love TT and family
