Carlos A. Pires was born on December 13, 1945, in Sao Filipe, Cabo Verde, and passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts.
He was the son of the late Alberto Lopes Barbosa and the late Theresa R. Monteiro. Carlos is survived by his wife Mariana Rodrigues Pires and his children, Carlos Pires and Nancy Pires. He was predeceased by his son Christopher Pires and brother Jose Manuel Freire. He also leaves behind his siblings Fatima Pires-Dacruz and her husband Manuel, Cheryl Pires-Taylor, Lynn Marie Monteiro, Virginia Monteiro, Frank Monteiro, Adriano Barbosa, Angelo Barbosa, Antonio Barbosa, his stepchildren, Andres Miguel Sanchez Rodriguez, Hector Danilo Sanchez Rodriguez, Julio Cesar Sanchez Rodriguez, Emenegildo Sanchez Rodriguez, Pisitrato Sanchez Rodriguez, Plutarco Jose Sanchez Rodriguez, His grandchildren, Tissa Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Louis Hernandez, Adrianna Hernandez, Savanna Hernandez and Caiah Pires, and a large extended family who will greatly miss him.
At the young age of 19, Carlos immigrated to the United States, embracing his new life and home while always holding on to his Cape Verdean roots. He built a career as a butcher, and took great pride in his craft, especially when it came to preparing the perfect steak. His warmth and joy of life was infectious.
Carlos had a deep love for music and singing, with a voice that brought happiness to those around him. He was the life of the party making him a beloved presence in any gathering he attended. He was known for his sense of humor and lively spirit; he could light up a room with laughter and song. Not to mention he could bring tunes in his head to life in an instant. He adored his grandchildren and delighted in spoiling them with candy and loved singing to them. He also enjoyed sharing drinks of Hennessy with friends, always accompanied by jokes and hearty laughter, which made every moment with him special.His memory will live on through the joy, kindness and love he shared with those who was fortunate enough to know him.
Visiting Hours will be held in his honor on March 26th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS. A Mass on Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick Church, 400 Dudley Street, Roxbury on Thursday, March 27th at 10AM. Interment at New Calvary Cemetery.
