Obituary for Bridget Phyllis Greene Pasciucco

Bridget Phyllis Greene Pasciucco passed peacefully on June 25, leaving 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren already missing her 1000-watt smile, her sparkling blue eyes, and her strong, steady, loving presence. Bridget was born in Mynish, County Galway, Ireland May 29, 1929 – a birthday, she reminded us, shared with President Kennedy. One of 11 children of Patrick and Brigid Greene, she decided her future lay in America, so she set out at 19 years old in search of it – or more accurately, to create it. Even the lightening that struck Pan Am Flight 903 on her transatlantic journey could not stop her, though it was likely the source of her lifetime fear of flying.

Shortly after her arrival she had two jobs, many friends, was volunteering for the Jimmy Fund, and encouraging her siblings in Ireland to join her. She met a friend of the downstairs neighbor who became her future husband of 63 years, her lifelong love, her biggest admirer, and the Bogie to her Bacall. They set a course filled with love, laughter, hard work, and good humor. A key ingredient in the early days of their marriage when they had 3 children under 3 and 3 brothers from Ireland living under one roof.

After raising 5 children, Bridget went on to a successful career in real estate, but her first love was politics, and she ultimately worked as an aide to the Attorney General of Massachusetts for close to 20 years. She retired and spent many winters in Pompano Beach Florida, walking 10,000 steps a day before it was in vogue, golfing, and socializing with dear friends and family. Bridget’s recent community was Brightview in Canton where she continued to make friends, enjoy a glass of chardonnay, beat all the men at cornhole, and spend time with her growing family. To her final days, Bridget continued to look ahead with optimism and good cheer. And flashed that signature smile.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Pasciucco, and is survived by her children, Peter (Susan), Mary (Mark McCue), Leonard (Barbara), Gerry (Kelly) and Beth Pasciucco, her sisters Margaret Brunelli and Cait Fadden, her grandchildren John(Jolinda), Jarrod (Jillian), Gregory (Annie), Alison, Paul, and Charlie Pasciucco, Jenna (John) Giardina, Cara (Tanner) Moran, Andrew (Caroline) McCue, Morgan (Andrew) Brown, and her great grandchildren Peyton, Penny, Oliver, Abigail, Emelia Pasciucco, Brooke Giardina, Eloise and Pierce Moran, William, George, and Bennett McCue, and Declan Brown.

All are welcome to celebrate Bridget’s life at The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage, 51 Seaport Blvd, Boston, MA at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 14th for a Mass of Christian Burial and at the reception to follow nearby. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Bridget’s name to: St. Jean Baptiste High School, 173 E 75th Street, New York, NY, 10021. www.stjean.org (http://www.stjean.org/)

To: The Pasciucco Family, One of the most loved person at Sea Haven in Pompano Beach Florida was Phyllis. Kathy and I were so fortunate to have meet Her at the pool some 35 years ago. We became great friends, had many dinners, golf games, traveled and a scotch together with husband Lenny. She was proud of becoming a U.S. citizen at a young age, and would talk about it often. She was a true Patriot and loved the United States of America. As we celebrate the 250 Anniversary of the USA I will be thinking of Phyllis and knowing she would be wearing a Red, White and Blue scarve on the 4th. Vince & Kathy Bernier Pompano Beach, Florida
