Obituary for Barbara P. Greenwood

Barbara “Babs” P. Greenwood (née Brown), age 83, of Boston, who was lovingly cared for, passed away on August 15, 2025. Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, she was the daughter of the late Godfrey and Myrtle Brown and sister to the late Pamela Brown. Barbara was the beloved partner of her late husband Duncan B. Greenwood for over 50 years.

Barbara came from humble beginnings and emigrated to Boston in June 1973. Barbara was known by her family for her generosity, kindness and loyalty. She was a wife who supported her husband’s ambition. She was a parent who respected her children’s interests and encouraged them to excel. She was a talented cook who could turn basic ingredients into delicious, soul nourishing meals. She loved her garden and had a green thumb by which the most stubborn plants flourished. People were drawn to her because of her quiet grace. She was truly an angel on earth.

In addition to her late husband Duncan Greenwood and late son Kirk Greenwood, she leaves behind her children Karen Bright (née Greenwood) of Cambridge, Kevin Greenwood and his wife Deidra of Maryland and Wayne Greenwood of Maryland. Barbara also leaves her grandchildren Caeden Bright, Kayla Greenwood, Ian Greenwood and her niece Camella Bailey.

Thank you to Vedwattie “Veddy” Jagmohan, her husband Rajen Brijmohan and their children Loreta Brijmohan, Davie Brijmohan and Tyler Brijmohan who cared for Barbara as family. Due to the care of Veddy and her family, Barbara spent her final years with respect and dignity.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE from 10-11 AM. Interment to follow in Saint Michael Cemetery.

Ms Barbara was the kindest and most gentle woman I've ever met. She was a wonderful person and a great cook. Her door was always open and she always greeted me with a smile. Her flower garden was as colorful and vibrant as she was. No matter how many clippings and advice she gave me my yard could never measure up. Well Babs, I'm going to keep trying and know that every time I plant a new flower I will be thinking of you. I will remember you forever. Love Diavetta
