Obituary for Anthony Edward Day, Sr.

Anthony E. Day, Sr., 76, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on April 27, 2026. He was born on January 26, 1950, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Ecclesiastes Leigh Day and Mamie Lee Day (Fye).

He graduated from Stoughton High School.

Anthony worked at the Museum of Science for over 25 years and later spent another 20 years working at the Expo Center.

He was married to Kathy E. Day. He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Yvette M. Cooper, Anthony E. Day Jr., Dwayne M. Day, and Michael E. Day; one son-in-law, Lawrence W. Cooper; and two daughters-in-law, Kim R. Day and Coretta White. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his siblings Otis Day and wife Roxanne Day, Jean Fye Mims, and Judy Day. He was preceded in death by his siblings Carroll Fye, Richard Day, Sammy Day, and Joyce Douglas. Anthony, Sr. loved his family deeply. He enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, and especially loved Corona beer with lime.

He was charismatic, handsome, and a sharp dresser.

He would give every last penny he had and the shirt off of his back to family and friends.

Anthony, Sr. will be remembered as a man whose love for his family was unwavering. He was generous to a fault, always willing to help others even when it meant sacrificing for himself. His presence brought laughter, strength, and character into every room he entered. Though he may no longer be physically present, the lessons he taught through his kindness, his humor, and his giving spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 2, 206, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, 3 - 6 pm.
