Anthony Cespedes Mordan of Pawtucket, Rhode Island passed away at the age of 73 on April 22nd, 2023.

Anthony was born in Port-au-Prince Haiti on September 17th, 1949, to Father Julio Enrique Cespedes Mordan, and Vernelie Antione Mordan. He completed his schooling in Haiti, where he also met his wife Marie Edlyne Jacob in 1971. Anthony is father to four children; Pascale (who predeceased him in 1972), Johanne, Steeve, and Jasmine. Anthony is also grandfather to four grandchildren, Garry Jr, Sasha, Sade, and Sylvie and loves them tenderly.

Anthony started working as a professional driver for Massachusetts in 1986. He retired in early 2000’s and moved to the state of Rhode Island. The feeling of unfulfillment forced him out of retirement and returned to work for over five more years. Anthony finally accepted and settled into retirement in the late 2010’s when sadly, his health started to decline. Despite hating being retired, he made every second of his retirement count as he cared for his family, maintained his home. Anthony also started gardening alongside his son, something he enjoyed and found peace from the time he was a young man in Haiti.

Anthony’s last remaining years of life was spent living alongside his wife, his children, and four grandchildren (who he adored and spoiled). He looked forward to the weekends when he’d come to Boston to watch Soccer at Almont Park. He was also a devoted Patriot’s fan and hardly missed a game, from pre-season to the super bowl.

Anthony is survived by his wife, three children, his four grandchildren, many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family. We will forever remember him for his joyous spirit, abundant love, and faith in his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 5, 2023, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1540 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hours 9-11 am at the church. Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery.
