Obituary for Anne T. Glynn
Anne T. (Kelly) Glynn, of Milton and Hillsboro Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born in Galway, Ireland, Anne was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Winnifred (McDonough) Kelly. She spent her early years in Ballyboggan, Athenry and, at age 14, moved to the larger village of Ballinasloe, where she worked for the family that owns Gullane’s Hotel—a family she remained close with throughout her life.
In 1958, at just 18, Anne bravely immigrated to America on her own, settling in Brighton. That same year, she met her future husband, PJ Glynn, at the Hibernian Dance Hall on Dudley Street. They shared a love of laughter and a dream of building a large family. The two were married on August 26, 1961, at St. Columbkille Church in Brighton, and after time in Boston and Arlington, they made Milton their permanent home, before settling in Hillsboro Beach, Florida.
Anne was a devoted mother of five, each of whom she nurtured with love, support, and fierce advocacy. She was a constant presence on the sidelines of their games and events, cheering them on with pride. Alongside PJ and their extended family, Anne worked tirelessly in the family’s restaurant and real estate businesses.
A competitive spirit, Anne loved golf and was a longtime member of Wollaston Golf Club. She was known as one of the club’s top female players in her prime. Her family often joked that she was “the winningest member of the Glynn family.” In later years, she enjoyed playing cards with her “Lunch Bunch” and treasured time with family and friends. Anne and PJ traveled the world, though their favorite destination was always back home to Ireland.
Anne will be remembered for her kind, thoughtful nature, her quiet strength, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. She was a loyal friend, a loving mother and grandmother, and a woman who lived life with purpose and grace.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Patrick “PJ” Glynn of Milton; her children: Christine M. Freeman and her husband Paul of Milton, Michael T. Glynn and partner Keri Cullinane of Milton, Neil G. Glynn and his wife Maura of Needham, Brendan P. Glynn and his wife Michelle of Milton, and Kelly G. Laurence and her husband Andrew of Milton. She was the cherished “Mom,” “Grammy,” “Grandma,” and “MiMa” to sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was the loving sister of the late Jimmy Kelly, May Spain, and Joseph Kelly, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, Friday, July 18 at 10 AM. Family and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday 4 - 8 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
