Obituary for Ann M. (Flaherty) Chamberlin
Ann M. Chamberlin of Duxbury passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on October 29, 2026. She was born on October 19, 1936, in Boston to Anna (McGillicuddy) and John P. Flaherty. She grew up in Dorchester surrounded by her Flaherty, McGillicuddy, Cox and Coyle cousins. She attended Saint Margaret’s School and graduated from Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School in 1954. Upon graduation, she went to business and comptometer school and worked in the offices of the New England Telephone Company and Elm Farm grocery chain.
Ann was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Joseph W. Chamberlin, who passed in 1991. They married in 1959 when he returned from serving in the Army during the Korean War. After living in Dorchester, they moved to Stoughton to raise their family. They both loved to travel and enjoyed spending time outdoors and at the beach. Ann planned many adventurous trips throughout the U.S. and to the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe. After Joe’s passing, Ann continued to travel with family and friends.
Ann was an avid painter and a longtime member of the Stoughton Art Association. She was also a devoted Catholic and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stoughton. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her exceptional baking, especially for her cookies that were generously shared with friends and family. Ann moved to Duxbury ten years ago to spend as much time as possible near the ocean and walked daily at Duxbury Beach. She also became an active member of Holy Family Church in Duxbury.
Ann’s love for and dedication to her children and grandchildren were paramount throughout her life. She was recently overheard saying her prayers and ended with, “Good night sweet Jesus. Bless my children and keep them safe.” She was the mother of Thomas Chamberlin and his wife Andrea of Taunton, Diane Gooley and her husband David of Duxbury, Christopher Chamberlin and his wife Heidi of Easton, and Ann LaBelle and her husband David of Duxbury. She was Nana to her grandchildren, Christopher (and his wife Alyssa), Julia (and her husband KC), Rebecca, Connor, Benjamin, Delia, William (and his wife Eliza), Claudia, Joseph, Margaret and Isabella as well as her great granddaughter, Isla. She also leaves her brothers-in-law, Paul Chamberlin and Ronald Chamberlin, several cousins, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, John “Jackie” Flaherty.
The family will welcome visitors on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, Milton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 am at Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton. Interment will be on a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
