Our beautiful mom, Ann Love Blood, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born in 1931 to Joseph and Leona (Krans) Love, Ann spent much of her youth moving around New England before her family settled in Dudley, MA. A dedicated student, she attended Saint Joseph College and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her career at St. Francis Hospital before moving to Boston to continue her nursing journey, eventually becoming a pediatric nursing instructor. Once her children began school, Ann returned to work as a school nurse in the Boston Public Schools.

Ann shared 53 years of deep devotion with her husband, Alexis “Lex” Blood. Together, they raised their family in Milton and spent cherished summers in Maushop Village and Falmouth, MA. After Lex’s passing in 2012, Ann moved to Bolton, CT, where she lived with her daughter Carol and her family. She filled their home with warmth, forming a special bond with their dog, Rosie, who was always by her side waiting for table scraps. Ann’s family extends their deepest gratitude to Carol and John, who provided exceptional love and care for her while balancing work and raising their three children.

As a mother of six, Ann channeled her incredible intellect and broad creativity into her home. She was an accomplished seamstress who could make anything, famously sewing three identical dresses for her daughters’ annual Christmas card photos, crafting prom dresses, and sewing all the family’s curtains. Ann was the consummate homemaker, keeping a tight schedule for household chores while patiently teaching her children to cook, clean, and do laundry. She passed down her love for fiber arts, teaching the family to hook rugs and needlepoint. An avid knitter, she made hundreds of pairs of mittens, gifted beautiful Icelandic sweaters, and later discovered a passion for quilting, creating stunning pieces for everyone she loved. Ann also found peace in watercolor painting and music; the daughter of musical parents, she often relaxed after dinner by playing “Moon River” on the piano. Later in life, she found immense joy in sharing these same skills and talents with her grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lex; her sisters, Patricia Spear and Mary Mason; her brother, Fr. Joseph Love, SJ and son in law, Michael Cochrane. She is survived by her three sons, Richard and Christine of Mendham, NJ, Joseph of Falmouth, MA, and James and Susan of Ellington, CT and her three daughters, Carol and John of Bolton, CT, Mary Jean of Glastonbury, CT, and Patricia of Plymouth, MA. She also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren, Kelsey and Andrew, Brian, Michelle and Matthew, Jennifer and Ryan, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 25 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton. Relatives and friends are invited. In honor of Ann, we encourage our guests to wear blue, her favorite color. Visitation at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. Interment will follow at Milton Cemetery.
