Alicia Theodat of Brockton, MA, died peacefully on Saturday May 29, 2021, at her home in the company of her loving family.

She was the loving mother of Rosemarie Pierre of Randolph, Gerard Abelard and of Dorchester, Jean R. Theodat of Brockton, Evelyne Theodat of Brockton, Maria M. Theodat of Brockton, and Jeanne D. Theodat of Brockton. Alicia was the cherished grandmother of Marlene Pierre, Majorie Pierre, Claudia Pierre, Claudel Pierre, Mara Smith, Riccardo Abelard, Geraldine Abelard, Valerie Abelard, Sara Theodat, Cassandra Theodat, Ornella Theodat, Shilove Theodat, Emmanuel Benjamin, Mindy Benoit, Clyde Hans Benoit, Fritz Theodat Jr., Donald Michel, Nathalie Charles, Taisha Richemond, Sabrina Theodat and Jovan Riboul. Alicia leaves 4 generations of grandchildren, friends and extended family.

Alicia was born in Havana, Cuba, she moved to Haiti at the age of 12 where she developed a passion for caring for others. It was there in Haiti, where she met her first husband Francois Abelard, and had two children. After her divorce from Abelard, she got remarried to Seymour Theodat and had a few more children. After her husband’s passing, she settled in Mattapan, Massachusetts in 1973 where she raised her children, making lifelong friends in Mattapan and its surrounding communities. Alicia worked as a caregiver for the children within her community. Alicia enjoyed her life to the fullest and made the best of every moment granted to her. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester on Saturday June 12, at 10 AM. Visitation will be held at the church from 9-10 AM. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
