Adelina DeBarros Andrade, age 104, of Dorchester, passed away Tuesday morning, April 13, 2021 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 9, 1916, in Campana, Fogo, Cabo Verde, the daughter of Carolina Sequeira and Jorge DeBarros.

“Vovo”, as she was lovingly known, was preceded in death by her husband Hermogenes Freire Andrade, her son, Manuel Andrade and her four siblings.

Vovo was a devout Catholic who prayed daily and always had her rosary nearby. She came to America in 1983 to live with her son and help raise her grandchildren. With her comforting nature and ability to easily manage a household she quickly became regarded as Vovo to children of extended family, friends and neighbors.

Vovo is survived by her three children, Lourença Monteiro, Carolina Andrade and Jorge Andrade along with 26 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visiting hours will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Monday, April 19 from 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass and interment private.
