Viva Eina Robinson, affectionately known as “Auntie Madge” was born on May 17th, 1941 to Ida Lovelace and John Robinson in a small town called Sedburgh located in Manchester Jamaica. Viva attended Middlesex elementary school and then went on to Christiana Secondary High where she graduated. As the sixth of eight children Viva learned the values of hard work and sacrifice from her mother. These principles guided Viva throughout her life. After graduating High school she developed a knack for sewing and gathered work as a dressmaker. In 1968 at the age of 27, Viva left her island in the sun to pursue greater opportunities in the United States. After settling in Boston, Ma. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family while building a future for herself in a new country.

Ever the worker, Viva spent over 40 years in the health care field. Most of her time was spent working on the maternity ward as a nursing assistant taking care of the newborns and their mothers. Viva loved what she did and was not shy in sharing stories of that experience.

When she was not working you could find Viva in the kitchen demonstrating

her passion for cooking. She would exuberantly fill her table with delicacies of her Jamaican youth. Innumerable family celebrations took place in her home; birthdays, Christmases, and Easters gave Viva occasion to engage loved ones over a meal. There was not much that Viva endeavored that she did not acquire a skill for. Her other pastimes included knitting and crocheting. She would make varied items, anything from baby’s socks to bedspreads.

Viva leaves behind an adoring family. She is survived by two older brothers Oswald ad Godfrey; two younger sister Elaine and Reva; two daughters Althea and Jacqueline; three granddaughters LaCree, LaDaeja and Neshia, one grandson and twenty-eight nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Friday, November 22nd from 10-11AM. Funeral Service to begin at 11AM. Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.
