I dont know if you will get this message but I saw Vernon as a customer at citizen's bank and was just getting ready to make an appointment to see him and discovered his passing about one year ago. I am so sad I did enjoy seeing him and all his sports paraphernalia in the office. He was alway a delight.

We were friends and roommates in college. Vernon was a humble, kind, and loyal man. He cared. And he was hilarious. H I L A R I O U S. With just a quick glance you knew he was messing with you. His laugh was infectious. He was an incredible athlete at Fairfield. I will miss him. 🙏🏻 Elliott (EJ) Driscoll 609 647 6779

My wife Jean and I just now learned of Vernon's passing, after returning from vacation. We knew Vernon through this remarkable work at Citizens Bank. I last saw Vernon prior to leaving for our vacation. As always Vernon never disappointed us, telling us stories, laughing and giving us sound financial advice. We always looked forward to seeing Vernon at his office, we could always count on a memorable meeting. We considered Vernon a friend who had our backs and we are devastated by his passing. Vernon was kind, he talked to us, not down at us. He alway took the time to ask about our kids and our traveling plans. He was a genuine human being who loved life. Although we only dealt with Vernon on a professional basis , Jean and I will miss him dearly and will always think of him fondly. Please accept our deepest and heart felt sympathies. Such a loss, I have more memories and connections when we were younger. His uncle Benny was my Step Grandfather details don't matter we are family . We camped a few times together with my grandparents. And just at family get togethers. He was always kind to me, he was 3 years older than me and probably thought why do I have to hang out with this kid but he never let that on. Always made me feel like part of the family.lots of love to Freddie and Linda miss the Coleman- Dailey family. Miss Vernon wish I had stayed in touch more so this loss has reminded me to reach out and show your love because you just don't know when they won't be there. Don't be afraid to say how you feel time just goes by so fast. Sincerely Tonia Raymond

I am saddened to hear of Vernon's passing. My relationship with Vernon was a business one. I was one of his clients at Citizens Bank in Arlington. But always the meetings I had with Vernon went far beyond investment issues and opportunities. Vernon was enjoyment and I am indeed fortunate to have known him even a little. A. Nick Minton

I am so sad to hear this news. I grew up on Thompson Lane in Milton. Vernon was a fixture at the Dowling's house. He was a few years older than me and I looked up to him. I remember him taking me running with him on occasion at the Milton Academy track and the runs often finished with great advice. He was so kind, nice, and thoughtful, and had an amazing sense of humor. Years later, when we'd meet, we would always have a good laugh. The world has lost a really good person in Vernon. Rest in peace my friend.

It's 1994. Mitt Romney is running for Senate against Ted Kennedy. My conversation went like this. "Election is coming up. Are you gonna vote, Vern?" "Itch, it's every Americans god damn right and duty to vote, of course I'm going to vote!" "Who are you thinking about? Kennedy?" I ask. "Kennedy!? That no good silver spoon, 'man of the people', liberal lion, career do nothing, back room dealing, crooked son of a gun!" "Oh, so Romney then?" "Romney!? Another silver spoon, venture capitalist, union busting, company shredding, fake smile, fake concerns, conservative son of a gun!" "So you're not going to vote then?" I ask, kind of confused. "Are you not listening!? Of course I'm going to vote! Kennedy all the way." "Vern you just bad mouthed the crap out of him. Why is he the guy?" "Itch," he says. "Let me tell you something, and these are words to live by. Romney is a Mormon. Mormons don't drink. NEVER trust any politician that doesn't drink." Cheers to you Vern. Miss you buddy -Patrick 'Itch' Connors

As a customer at Citizens Bank, I always enjoyed talking to Vernon. He was more than just a bank employee, he was a friendly face who always had time for his customers. I would run into him outside the bank and he always had time to stop and talk. He is a great loss, but I felt blessed to have had him in my life. RIP Jay McAleer

I remember the first time I met Vernon. He was 7 years old. He was my brother Stephen's first friend when we moved to Milton. Over the years, Vernon became part of my family. I can still picture like it was yesterday....coming downstairs for coffee and Vernon would be there talking to our Mom. Smiling now through tears.. picturing Vernon getting a huge welcome hug from my brother Stephen.. his friend .. in heaven.
