Trey Jordan Price, of Nottingham Maryland; an inspiration to many, lost his battle to Loeys-Dietz Syndrome at 5:17 PM on November 30th at Massachusetts General Hospital at the age of 22.

Trey was born on Mother’s Day 1999, in Fort Worth, Texas. Grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, when in 2005 Trey’s disease was recognized, Loeys-Dietz Syndrome. We moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 2012 for Trey to receive the best medical care at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and thus, Nottingham became his home.

Trey was a determined young child, a strong-willed teen, and an optimistic young adult. Trey constantly fought every aspect of Loeys-Dietz Syndrome from the moment he was born. With every struggle he coped through humor, he learned how to make his quality of life better. His intelligence, his way of thinking was profound. Trey was a hero to so many and has taught us the importance of life; love, kindness, faith, especially patience and flexibility, and to never give up. Through it all, he would not have changed anything.

Trey’s 22 years of his life were filled with adventure, curiosity, and education. He had many loves. Trey would learn all about trains, cars, planes, spiders, dinosaurs, sharks, guns; Trey would educate himself on every aspect of his mini obsessions then teach us. We would go to the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center and when a guide had trouble pronouncing dinosaur names or the guide would get facts wrong, Trey would correct the guide. One time, Trey got up and asked if he could teach the group out of frustration. Trey was eight. Trey also loved the TV show, CSI. Trey, his sister, and his best friends would create CSI episodes and video record themselves. Trey was the director; his sister was the producer. These videos were amazing for 7- and 4-year-old children. Trey also loved cross-country road trips. He loved sleeping in different hotels in different states, also he would want to see the state’s capital, to prove that every capitol had a dome. Moreover, Trey had a telltale sign when he was happy. Trey had “happy hands” and “happy feet,” like his hands and feet were dancing. Adorable.

When we learned how critical Trey’s disease was Trey was tutored by the same superb teacher at home from 1st grade through 7th grade. When we moved to Maryland, Trey wanted to go to public school and Perry Hall Middle and Perry Hall High school were his schools. He thrived when he was healthy; however, it was difficult when Trey had gotten sick or he needed critical surgeries, there was a time for recovery, and that lead to getting behind. Nevertheless, once Trey was healthy, he would return to school and with the support of his wonderful assistant and the understanding and compassion from all his teachers, Trey graduated from Perry Hall High School in 2020.

Trey is survived by his father, Tony Price; his mother, Veronica Price; his sister, Victoria Price of Nottingham Maryland, and his brother Tucker Price of Colorado Springs, Colorado. And six cats, Mohawk, Luke, Cass, Luna, Tiger, Addie; guinea pig, Choco; sugar glider, Athena. His loving pets.
