Thomas C. Hern, of Hanson, died unexpectedly on March 6th, 2021. He had just recently celebrated his 80th birthday.

Tom graduated from Stoughton High School and attended Wentworth College. He was a longtime employee of the New England Telephone Company where he worked for over thirty years in many capacities.

Tom was the beloved husband of Joanne (Hession) Hern, they had been married for fifty-seven years. He was a devoted father to his daughter Lisa Hern Silvester and her husband John of Reading, VT and to his son Thomas Hern Jr. and his wife Amy of Plymouth. He had one grandson, Brandon Thomas Silvester also of Reading, VT. He was the brother-in-law of David Hession and his wife Catherine of Rockwood, ME. In addition, it should not be left unsaid that Tom will be missed terribly by his dog, Ivy.

Tom had many interests, avidly collecting music of all types but especially the blues, sports, though sadly no New England teams, a real love of the many special Golden Retriever dogs he and Joan had over the years and, in particular, spending countless hours supporting both of his children in their passion for competitive horseback riding. Tom was a fixture at many of the local horse shows where he always loved catching up with friends from near and far.

He is also survived by his brother Herbert Hern of Fall River and his sisters Barbara Batchelder and Beverly Hern Bottini both of Stoughton.

Funeral services and interment will be private.
