Sonny Bodkin was born to the late Phillip Bodkin and Gladys Jones Bodkin on August 20, 1929. He departed this earthly life on Thursday January 2, 2025. His predeceased family members include his son Earl Bodkin, his sister Virgina Bodkin-Lewis, his brothers Clyde Aitken, John Moses, and his twin brother Essau. Sonny was born in Couva, Trinidad West Indies. After completing school, he worked as a carpenter. He lived in St. Margaret's Village
before migrating to the US. While in the US he worked at Marion Manor Nursing home and Holiday Inn prior to his retirement. Sonny was a beloved father, uncle, brother, spouse and a friend to
many. He was always known for his charm, his sense of humor and his good natured spirit. His hobbies included gardening, cooking, dancing, travelling, listening to music and watching Friday night wrestling.
Throughout his life he shared a close bond with his daughter Fay from Brooklyn NY, his niece Patricia who lives in Randolph and his son Earl from Baltimore, MD.
While in Boston, he enjoyed going to the Boston Marathon, The Kite festival at Franklin Park and watching the parade of bands at the Boston Carnival. In his later years he participated in Tai Chi classes
which he enjoyed.
He is survived by his daugher Fay Bodkin-Bass, his niece Patricia Zamor (Nee Bodkin), his son in law Darryl Bass, his grandsons Andrew Bass, Patrick Cedeno Jr., family friend Wilks Vassell, several adopted nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Service, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, at 4 o'clock. Visiting Hour 3-4 pm. Interment Private.
