Sister Monica Hayes MFIC, of Newton, a beloved member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters for 83 years, died September 5, 2021 at Saint Patrick’s Manor, Framingham.

She was the loving daughter of the late Patrick and Brigid (Moore) Hayes. She is predeceased by her siblings Ita Dunphy, John Hayes, James Hayes and nephew Fr. Patrick Hayes. Sr. Monica is survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, specifically Sr. Enda Hayes and Dermot Hayes and his wife Cathy and her Missionary Franciscan Sisters.

Visitation in the Chapel at Mount Alvernia Convent, 790 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02458, Friday September 10 from 8:30-9:45 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the chapel at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends invited. A livestream of the Mass will be accessible here on Friday:
