Obituary for Sandra P. (Gerke) Lake

Sandra P. (Gerke) Lake, 87 of Milton passed away July 4, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Malden and raised in Milton, Sandra was the daughter of the late Carl and Pauline (Berry) Gerke. She was a graduate of Milton High School Class of 1954 and attended Academie Moderne in Boston.

Sandra worked for the Massachusetts Bankers' Association before joining her husband during his time while stationed in London, England. They lived for several years in London and its beautiful countryside before moving back to the United States and settling in Braintree, where they lived for almost 50 years.

Sandy enjoyed reading, working in her extensive gardens, and listening to the radio while in the kitchen and at bedtime. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots' fan, always rooting for Tom Brady. A wonderful, involved, and proud mom, you could often find her in the stands for the basketball, baseball, and softball games of her children and grandchildren. She was active on school PTO boards, a Troop Leader of scouting, and she coached Pop-Warner cheerleading. Sandy also looked forward to meeting up with her long-time group of close girlfriends each month to play cards or dominoes, discuss all the local Milton happenings, and support each other through life's journey.

Childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 66 years of Robert L. Lake of Milton. Loving mother of Heidi Lake of Chatham, Mark Lake and his wife Josie of Charlotte, NC, and Amy Lake of Abington. Grandmother of Jesse, Victoria, Samantha, Robbie, and Liam. She is also survived by her sister Sue Bessemer of Braintree.

Funeral services are private.

Donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Sandy to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via jimmyfund.org/gift.
