Obituary for Rudy Guity

Rudy Guity of Dorchester, passed away on December 4, 2021

Rudy Guity, affectionately known as Big Rudy, Sweet Guity, or G was born in La Ceiba, Honduras on May 21, 1958. Rudy attended Catholic Memorial High School graduated in 1977. He also attended Bunker Hill Community College before dedicating 27 years of his life to the Boston Police Department. Through his time spent with the Boston Police Department, Rudy was able to meet, help, and guide many people in deep distress as he worked with various departments within BPD. Rudy was married to Debbie, and as their family and union grew so did his career. Rudy received a citation from the City of Boston for hostage negotiations and saving and protecting many lives. In 2008, Rudy received a certificate in Commercial Vehicle Operation at the New England Tractor Trailer School of Rhode Island. To many, meeting him left them with a feeling of hope and gratitude. Rudy respected the differences in people, and embraced learning all he could from his extensive collection of books and life experiences. He loved 1970s black exploitation films like Shaft, and he loved Kung Fu. He was a black belt in karate and one would often find Rudy testing out his moves on his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed many aspects of life, and also took pleasure in listening to music from era to era. He was exceptionally skillful at playing the bongos and many other instruments. When going out, Rudy had a classic style of dressing from head to toe. He made sure his beard was sharp, his suit was crisp and that he chose just the right tie and hat from his huge collection. In his free time, Rudy enjoyed holding it down on the grill, making cheeseburgers, and playing dominoes affectionately yelling out “capicu”, meaning the winning domino could be played on either end, but to Rudy that just meant it was time to play again. Rudy was a provider, and he always had meaningful words for his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Justo Lalin Guity and sister Lesly Odalis Guity. He is survived by, his loving mother, Guillermina Blanco-Guity; his children Trudy Guity Benoit (Jean), Korey Lungelow (Kiana), Rudi Guity, Mia Guity, Mina Guity, and Rey Guity; his grandchildren Israel, Xavier and Athan Benoit, Koriana, Kiori, Korey and Kordae Lungelow; his siblings Elsa Suazo (Jose), Ricardo Guity (Felicia), Rosalina Guity-Joseph (Evrans), Lorna Pruce (Timothy) and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Wednesday December 15th from 10-11AM. Funeral Service will begin at 11AM. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
