Obituary for Ronald E. "Ronnie" Mackin

Ronald E. “Ronnie” Mackin, 70, of Quincy, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 25, 2022.

Born in Boston, Ronnie was the son of the late Robert and Annette (Lapointe) Mackin. He was raised in Dorchester’s Upham’s Corner neighborhood. He was educated in South Boston and resided in Quincy for the remainder of his life. After high school, he earned his Associate degree in English at Quincy College.

Ronnie was employed as an inspector for Boston Edison, now NStar, where he worked for 42 years before retiring. He was beloved by the “Edison Guys” who became life-long friends.

Ronnie was an avid fisherman and cherished his trip with his son, brothers, and nephews to Alaska in 2013. He loved his annual trips to the Allagash with his friends and his cousin Johnny. He also enjoyed all Boston sports and was beside himself when the Red Sox finally won.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Dennis Mackin, Richie Mackin, and sister, Patricia Sager.

Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Audrey Mackin; his three children; Eric R. Mackin of Beverly, MA and his wife Mireille, Patricia M. Ward of Plymouth MA, and Christina Brown of Quincy, MA. He is the brother of Larry Mackin of North Carolina. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren: Anjalea Ciccio, Allahna Brown, Amarah Brown, Alijah Brown, Richard Ward, and Madeline Mackin, and many nieces and nephews. Ronnie was a true family man, and he dedicated his life to them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 227 Sea Street, Quincy, Thursday at 10:00 AM. Family and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
