Obituary for Robert A. Kelley
Robert A. Kelley, 80, a lifelong resident of Dorchester, passed away suddenly and peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Brigid “Bridie” (Connolly) Kelley, who passed away on January 4, 2007.
Born in Boston on October 26, 1944, Bob was the loving son of the late Charles A. Kelley and Anne (McKeever) Kelley. He grew up in the Fields Corner section of Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston Technical High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the Massachusetts National Guard. Bob went on to dedicate over three decades of his career to the Gillette Corporation.
A man of deep Catholic faith, Bob was a devoted communicant of Saint Ambrose Parish in Dorchester, where he lived out his values of generosity and service. His kindness was evident in many ways, including his anonymous contributions to help fellow parishioners in need, even covering funeral expenses for those unable to afford them.
Bob’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was the dear friend of Patricia “Patty” Gilmore of Dorchester, the cherished brother of Paul Kelley and his wife, Peg, of Weymouth, and William “Bill” Kelley and his wife, Maureen, of Lynn. He was a devoted uncle to many treasured nieces and nephews and a beloved cousin to many. He was predeceased by his siblings Patricia Brady and Richard Kelley.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Bob’s honor on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Saint Ambrose Parish, 240 Adams Street, Dorchester, with the Reverend Matthew Williams officiating. Relatives and friends are most warmly invited to attend. Interment will take place privately at a later date in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester, at which time he will be reunited with his beloved Bridie.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Bob’s memory to The Sisters of West Street, 43 West Street, Boston, MA 02111.
