Obituary for Richard Nelson "Dick" White

Richard Nelson White, “Dick”, age 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 13, 2022 at his home in Dorchester, MA after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Dick was born June 30, 1936, in Charlestown, MA to Clayton and Mary Ella White. He graduated from English High School in 1954 and Bunkerhill Community College in 1983 with his associates degree for the art in housekeeping as well as completing his certificates in hospital management, counseling, race relations, training safety, and supply and technical instructions. Dick served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years before retiring in 1976 and then spent 20 years working for Waltham Chemical Co. before retiring in 2008. Dick was happily married to Evelyn Pamela White for just shy of 65 years at the time of his death. Dick is survived by his wife, 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his eldest daughter Ellen Mary (Wilkins) Beggs. Besides spending time with family and friends, Dick had a passion for fire trucks, puzzles, the weather and watching the Red Sox’s play. Dick had a personality that could brighten up a dark room. He was never afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger or tell a joke that any age could enjoy. His kindness and generosity towards others were a contributing factor on the many friends he made during his life. He lived an extraordinary life and was loved by everyone. Due to covid -19, no services will be held. His family will be honoring his wishes to be cremated and having his ashes scattered.
