Ray Rist passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, of complications from MS. Ray battled MS for many years. He inspired us with his courage, unselfishness, and immense strength throughout the duration of his battle.

In his early years, Ray lived in Turkey with his family on a one-year Fulbright grant, and then traveled throughout Europe. As a boy, he developed a deep love for dogs, which carried over into his adult life. Ray and Jane were pet parents to Max and Amstel, two beautiful German Shepherds. Pepper, Jane’s current dog, loved to visit him at the Boston Home.

Ray had a lust for life. Prior to his disability, he was an active skier, bicyclist, and camper. He hand glided in the French Alps, skied throughout Europe, skydived, and ran the rapids in New England. He particularly enjoyed summers at Ocean Park and Old Orchard, Maine.

Ray graduated from Newton North High School in 1976, where he played football and lacrosse. After graduation from high school, he attended Ottawa University, and then UNH, where he graduated in 1981. Ray played college lacrosse and obtained a bachelor’s degree. After graduating, he pursued a career in sales engineering and worked at Hadco in Salem, NH.

Ray was predeceased by his mother Helen in 1971 and his father Stuart in 2020. Ray leaves his family members, Jane Hollinrake, Sheri Berenzy, Dean Rist, Vicki Depuy, Chris (Darla) Davis, Matthew (Colleen) Davis, and Rachel (Ken) Hawkins, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Ray passed away at The Boston Home, his home for the last 20 years. Our special thanks to all of his caregivers and friends at the Boston Home. We would request donations, in lieu of flowers, be directed to the Boston Home at 2049 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA. 02124
