Obituary for Phoebe B. Burke

Phoebe B. “Barbara” (Deveney) Burke, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2023 at the age of 99.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Burke. Loving mother of Jeanne B. Young and her husband James of Plymouth, Richard J. Burke and his wife Margaret of Milton, Robert W. Burke of Jacksonville, FL and Barbara A. Munzert of Hull. Cherished grandmother of Pamela Roy and her husband James, Amy Tripp-Ariagno and her husband Dan, Matthew Burke and his wife Erin, Patty Sanchez and her husband Omar, Katie Burke, Robbie Burke, Lindsay Munzert and Allison Munzert. Adored “Gigi” of sixteen great grandchildren.

Barbara was born on November 23, 1923 in Boston to the late Thomas and Phoebe Deveney. She graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Boston. She and her husband, Bob, made their home in Milton and Westwood where they raised their four children. In retirement, they enjoyed traveling the country and spending time at their homes in Florida and Cape Cod. Barbara’s favorite pastime was spending time with her beautiful family which she considered her greatest accomplishment and cherished every moment they were together.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, Thursday January 5 at 11:30 AM. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, East Milton, Thursday 9-11:00 AM.
