Obituary for Pearl Jackson

Pearl Mary Jackson, 95, beloved mother of 8 children of Mattapan, Massachusetts, was called to her eternal resting place on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

Pearl came into this world on January 11, 1929, in San Fernando Trinidad to her parents, Byron and Mildred Smith. She was the first of their two children. Pearl attended St Gabriel's School in San Fernando, Trinidad.

Pearl married Emmanuel Sonny Jackson, also from Trinidad, on September 10, 1950. From this union were born eight beautiful and loving children: Claudette, Leslie, Winston, Annette, Marilyn, Wayne, Anthony, and Gillian. Pearl is the loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pearl was a devoted mother to her eight children. She always said their births improved her life, which was felt daily.

Pearl took particular joy in cooking for the family. Her greatest test of love was taking care of her first-born disabled daughter, Claudette. Doctors informed Pearl and Emmanuel that she would only live six months, but because of their faith, love, patience, and kindness, she lived to be sixty-two years old.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband (Emmanuel), daughter (Claudette), and son (Wayne). She is survived by Leslie, Winston, Annette, Marilyn, Anthony, and Gillian.

Pearl's six children, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of cousins and close family friends, too many to name, are left to cherish her memory.

A viewing will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester Lower Mills, on Friday, June 7, from 10 to 11 AM. The Funeral Service will begin at 11 AM. The interment will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
