Obituary for Nora Patricia "Tish" (Joyce) Scally
Nora Patricia “Tish” Scally, 86, of Hingham, passed away January 25, 2025.
Born on Sept. 22, 1938, in Dorchester, MA, Tish was the youngest of 5 children of Nora and Stephen Joyce. She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in Brighton, MA and Burdett College, in Boston, MA.
Tish met Ralph Scally, the love of her life, through a mutual friend and they married in 1963. After living in Dorchester and a brief stint in New York City, they settled in Hingham, MA, in 1972, where they raised their 3 daughters, made lifelong friends, and were deeply involved in the community.
Tish’s primary focus was always home and family, however, once her girls were in high school she became a Teaching Assistant at the Old Colony Montessori School in Hingham in 1982. She loved her fellow teachers, her students, and their parents, many of whom she kept in touch with for years after retiring in 1996.
Tish was overjoyed when her daughters married, and nine grandchildren came along in quick succession. She was the best mother’s helper to her daughters and was a beloved Nana to Emma, Trevor, Graham, Jane, Daniel, Sean, Cole, James, and Devin.
In later years, Ralph and Tish enjoyed escaping the cold and spending their winters in Naples, FL. Many of their friends joined them in Naples and they had a vibrant social life filled with golf, bocce, and parties with new and old friends.
Tish leaves Ralph, her husband of 61 years, her daughters, Joyce Pugatch (husband, Michael), Teri Kinsella (husband, Tim) and Patti Bexon (husband, Simon). Her nine grandchildren, and first great-grandchild, her namesake, Nora. Tish also leaves her sister Barbara, 15 nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Nora and Stephen, her sister Theresa and her brothers, Stephen, and John.
