Obituary for Myra E. Patnett-Watters

Myra (Almira) E. Patnett-Watters, of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, surrounded by her children. She was 85 years old.

Beloved wife of the late Bernard Patnett, Sr. and Alden Watters, Sr. Loving mother of Cynthia Jolley, Bernadine Williams and her husband Mario, Bernard Patnett, Jr. and his wife Indigo and stepson Alden Watters, Jr. Cherished grandmother of Desiree, Marina, Mario Antonio, Gwendolyn, Kym, Chyna, Parris and Cheryl. Myra is also lovingly survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Myra was born and raised in Belize. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Dixon, Sr. and Almira Supal. Myra was the youngest of seven children. She first came to the United States in 1965; eventually she settled in Hyde Park where she raised her family. Her late siblings Melva A. Robateau and Lewis E. Dixon also settled in the Boston area. Myra was a people person to say the least, she loved to sing, dance and was the life of the party. She volunteered at Milton Hospital for 11 years where she forged lasting friendships and was known for her willingness to help others. She was a longtime member of Mattapan Baptist Church in Milton. At the time of her passing, Deaconess Watters was the longest active member of the church. Most of all Myra loved her family, who were the cornerstone of her life. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of having known and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, January 4th from 10 AM- 11 AM in Mattapan Baptist Church, 587 Eliot Street, Milton 02186. Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM.

Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.

    Myra was such a wonderful person, filled with warmth, kindness and grace. She gave freely of her time to help hospital patients and fellow volunteers at Milton Hospital and always did her utmost to assist those in need. We were blessed to work with her for many years. All our thoughts are with her family during this time of loss.
