Miguel R. Pires, of Roxbury passed away on January 10, 2024. He was 88 years old.

Beloved husband of Rosa Avelino Pires, loving father of Joao, Miguel and his wife Virgilia, Lizita and her husband Eugenio, Catarina and her husband Lino, Santana and his wife Olinda, Delfina and husband Val, Angelo and his wife Licia, Isabel and her husband Deto, and Lourenco. Cherished grandfather of 31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by many friends and extended family.

Miguel was born and raised in Fogo, Cape Verde. He had a childhood dream to own and operate his own farm, which through much hard work and determination “Cobada” came to life. In 1971, Miguel emigrated to the United States and settled in Boston, where he and his wife Rosa raised their family. Here in America Miguel worked for Polaroid Corporation for many years before retiring. Although he was proud of his home and heritage in Cape Verde, he loved America and the opportunities it brought to him and his family. Most of all, Miguel loved his family - the cornerstone of his life. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.
