Obituary for Michael Leon Young

Michael Leon Young, BFD, of Dorchester died on December 5, 2022. He was 59 years old.

Beloved husband of Earlean Perryman-Young of Dorchester. Loving father of LaWanda Monique Young, Michelle Young, Monica Young, and Amanda Young. Step-father of Tradessa Tooley, Javan Tooley, Shalela Tooley, Quadry Norman, Deandre Norman and the late William Tooley. Michael is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Michael was a dedicated Boston Firefighter for 32 years. A caring brother, and was known as a kind man who always looked out for others. He enjoyed fishing, music, and shared his love of cooking and grilling with family and friends. Michael was a United States Navy, Veteran. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.

Visiting hours on Monday December 19th 4-8PM in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester Lower Mills. Funeral on Tuesday at 11 am in St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 230 Warren Street, Roxbury. Interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Boston.

    Mike worked for years with my husband, Michael, forming an unbreakable bond. We had many laughs with Mike. He was a kind and loving man. Mike, you will be so missed.

    Mike and I worked together on Engine 5. Mike will always remain one of the nicest, kindest, most hard working people I have met in my life. My good thoughts and prayers remain with Mike's family.

    To all of his family, and MANY friends, I wish to offer my sincere condolences. Michael was my Brother, my friend, and just a wonderful guy that ALWAYS did a great job on the BFD. We worked together on Engine 5. I have missed him and the rest of the crew on that company. God Bless You Michael, till we meet again my Brother.

    Started on the Boston Fire Department back in 1994 with Michael. He would do anything for anyone who asked. We did a lot of various things together. Loved my friend. Life won't be the same without him. I could talk about him for hours. Love and miss you Mike!
