Obituary for Mary Stockton Pope

Mary S. Pope, age 64 of Hyde Park passed away July 29, 2024, after a year-long battle with Glioblastoma. A battle she faced with courage and gratitude for each day. Mary was loving, compassionate, and generous to family, friends, and strangers. She would not hesitate to help those in need whether they walked on two feet or four. Her tastes were eclectic. She loved golf, traveling, and a good bottle of wine, especially champagne. She was creative in all things - her artwork, writing, and cooking. She received her B.A. from Boston College followed by a “Grand Diplome” in Intensive Sommelier Training from the French Culinary Institute and a certificate in Canine Behavior and Training from Mount Ida.

She was the much-loved wife and very best friend of Denise Dodds. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Jean (Edward) Pope, and her brother Donald Pope. She leaves behind her sister, Julie Pope of Cambridge and three nieces and a nephew, all of Wisconsin, Tiffany Pope, Amanda Pope (Darrell), Emma Letlebo (John) and Nicholas Pope (Emily). Also two “ancient” Shih Tzus, Brandy and Sweetie.
