Obituary for Mary Lou (Curley) Donadio

Mary Lou (Curley) Donadio, 69 of Quincy, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, April 24, 2022. God called her home after a magical week in St. John with her family.

Growing up in Dorchester, Mary Lou was a fun-loving, outgoing, tomboy. She was a natural born athlete and would often be found in the parks in Dorchester playing softball or basketball with siblings and friends.

She was a varsity athlete and President of her class at St. Gregory’s High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston College School of Education.

Mary Lou went on to become a special education teacher for the city of Boston. Her craft was so important to her and the love and compassion she had for her students was something to be admired.

Mary Lou married her high school sweetheart, Tony Donadio, and had 3 daughters, Christine, Laura, and Erica, who she loved beyond measure. She shared her love of sports with her daughters, coaching various basketball and softball teams. Coach D was a force in the CYO circuit.

Throughout her life, music was the heart of Mary Lou’s soul. Her mom would often sing and play the piano as she and her siblings sang along. She was a member in St. Agatha and St. John choir and above all else, she cherished listening to her daughters sing together. Mary Lou was at her happiest listening to those who had the gift of song.

Her greatest joy and gift in life, was that of her grandchildren. Spending time with them nourished her soul more than anything she encountered previously in life. She loved them so dearly and was beyond proud to see them grow in their unique personalities and accomplishments in dance, music, sports and drama performances.

Mary Lou, or “Lou Lou” to her closest friends, will be remembered as a kind, compassionate woman with a generous heart. Those who knew Lou Lou, would agree that she had a special light and a warm soul. Her legacy lives on in her family.

Beloved wife of Anthony P. Donadio. Loving mother of Christine Cormier and her husband Scott and Laura Mulcahy and her husband Jeremiah all of Hanover and Erica Donadio of Quincy. Cherished grandmother of Olivia and Dominic Cormier and Molly and Emily Mulcahy. Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents George and Mary Curley and her siblings George Curley, Jr. and Elaine Hazelton.
